Elisabeth Stevens

Elisabeth Stevens is a young lirico spinto soprano on the verge of an exciting career.  She has just returned from Italy where she won second place as well as the audience prize in the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico Rocca delle Macíe.  Ms. Stevens is a recipient of numerous other awards and scholarships, including first place in the Joyce Dutka Arts Foundation Vocal Competition, the Mario Lanza competition, and the New Jersey chapter of the Society for Arts and Letters.  Ms. Stevens is proud to be recognized as a scholar by the Marian Anderson Historical Society.  Additionally, she has received several awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing, she is the recipient of an encouragement award from the Concours lyriques de L’Heures musicales de Biot.  Ms. Stevens has also advanced to the final rounds for several young artist programs and competitions, including Seattle Opera Young Artist Auditions, Marian Anderson Prize for Emerging Artists, Concert Artists’ Guild Young Artist Competition, Academy of Vocal Arts, Connecticut Opera Guild Competition, and the Friday Morning Music Club Washington International Competition. 

Recently featured on Robert Sherman’s Young Artist Showcase on New York’s WQXR, Ms. Stevens is quickly becoming a sought after concert soloist. She has performed the soprano solos in major concert works, including Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, Handel’s Messiah, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.  She has appeared numerous times with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and recently performed the world premiers of four new works for soprano on texts of Sonia Sanchez with the Network for New Music Ensemble.  Ms. Stevens’ operatic repertoire includes the title roles in Ariadne auf Naxos, Aida, and Suor Angelica, as well as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, and the Witch in Hansel and Gretel.
