In May of 2003, Valeska received an honorable mention at the National Association of Negro Business Young Artist Competition. Valeska performed the role of the Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel with Elysium Concert Opera in December of 2003. Also in April 2003, Valeska sang in Hansel and Gretel with the Temple University Opera. She has also performed at the Kimmel Center and Academy of Music with the Temple University Choir. She has performed for charity events, such as Light the Night at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia and Project Malawi in Pleasantville, New Jersey. In 1997 and 1998, Valeska won the New Jersey Governor's Award for Arts Education at the New Jersey Opera Festival. Currently, Valeska teaches private lessons in Philadelphia at Cheltenham Art and Music. She continues to study voice with Ms. Randi Marrazzo. During the month of July, Valeska will perform an Andrew Lloyd Weber review with the MAPS Foundation in Margate , New Jersey , and participated in the Crittenden Summer Opera Workshop in Washington D.C. She is attending Longy School of Music as of September of 2005 to receive a Master of Music in opera performance, and she has been accepted as a Marian Anderson Scholar. |
