While working on a master's degree in voice performance and pedagogy at Westminster Choir College , Ms. Stevens appeared with the Westminster Opera Theater as the Witch in Hansel and Gretel . In 2004, Ms. Stevens attended the Centro studi lirica in Novafeltria , Italy , where she performed scenes and arias from L'amico Fritz, La Bohème , Cosí fan tutte, Aida, and Mefistofele . At the invitation of Dalton Baldwin, in 2004 Ms. Stevens was one of 10 vocal scholars at the prestigious Académie musicale de Villecroze in Villecroze , France . There she participated in masterclasses with Maestro Baldwin and studied voice with Lorraine Nubar. Ms. Stevens is a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships. In 2006, she was recognized by the New Jersey chapter of the Society for Arts and Letters. In 2005, she won first place in the Joyce Dutka Arts Foundation Vocal Competition. Additionally, Ms. Stevens is a winner of the Mario Lanza competition, has received several NATS awards, and is the recipient of an encouragement award from the Concours lyriques de L'Heures musicales de Biot. Ms. Stevens has been a voice student of dramatic soprano Sharon Sweet of the Metropolitan Opera for several years. A native of Cleveland , Ohio , Ms. Stevens first started singing classical repertoire at Bucknell University , where she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in music with minors in Spanish and African-American studies. |
