Evette Jones

Lyrico –Spinto Soprano, Evette began singing at age four on the “Buds of Promise” children’s choir at White Rock Baptist Church. Evette began her formal study of vocal music at age ten and attended the Camden School of Musical Arts in 1996. As a teenager Evette sang on the “Excelsior Choir” at White Rock Baptist Church. At this same time she was a member of four other choirs at Overbrook High School. She sang on Concert Choir, Gospel Choir, The Overtones Choir, and Chamber Choir.  Evette was a member of the New Jersey High School Tri-Music Honor Society. She sang solos for various concerts and programs throughout New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.

In 2004, Ms. Jones began her journey as a classified musician attending the competitive and comprehensive music conservatory Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey. During her first year there she studied voice with acclaimed mezzo-soprano Zehave Gal known for performances in North and South America, Europe, Israel and the world-class Metropolitan Opera. Also during that year, Ms. Jones was a member of Westminster Chapel Choir. During her second year at Westminster she furthered her studies in voice with Rocelle Ellis, a soprano who sang at Carnegie Hall and has performed in Operas, Masses, and Music Festivals in the United States, and in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan. During that time, Ms Jones sang in Westminster’s Schola Cantorium Choir.

Ms. Jones studied and completed two years at Westminster Choir College. In fall 2006, Ms, Jones transferred to the accredited Rowan University, where she has and is currently continuing her vocal studies under the tutelage of Marian Stieber, a distinguished soprano who is also the head of the vocal division.

In August 2007, Ms Jones gave a joined concert with her brother. (A concert pianist) entitled “Evette Jones and Dr. Everett N. Jones III in Concert.” The concert was held at the White Rock Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has performed as soloist and member of the praised Rowan University Concert Choir for two years. In June 2007, she performed as a soloist in a duet called “Bess You is my Woman Now” from the Opera Porgy and Bess for the 1st annual Young Vocal Scholars Camp, which was sponsored by the Rowan Music Department. Evette is also a member of the Rowan Opera Company. In September 2007, the president of the National Baptist Convention Rev. Dr. William J Shaw asked Evette to perform and sing a spiritual during the Convention held in Philadelphia.

Ms. Jones has received many awards throughout her music career. She received the Overbrook Vocal Music Award, NAACP Act-so Instrumental/Classical Piano Award, New Jersey Senate &General Assembly Citation for choir, Camden County Board of Freeholders Music Award, National Baptist Convention William J. Shaw Achievement Scholarship Award, and Rowan Music Scholarship award.

In April 2008, Ms. Jones portrayed the leading role of Pamina in Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute) by Mozart.
